Have you ever looked down a road and asked yourself "I wonder, what's over that hill?" or "What's around that corner?" I do. All the time. When out for a drive, that question will sometimes take me further than I'd planned to go.
In October of 2008, that question took me clear across Canada, following the TransCanada Highway from coast to coast - from Victoria to St. Johns. Throughout the month, I drove the length of the Highway, stopping and doing photography every 50 kilometers, documenting what Canada looks like along the route, not just the "big attractions."
To celebrate this journey, and to help people come along (because very few really want to do the actual drive) we're publishing a book - Just Over The Horizon. Due out in early 2009, it'll be a documentary coffee table photo book. At one hundred or so pages, with what I'm sure will wind up being over 150 photos (theoretically - it was only 147 stops from coast to coast - but I did stop at a few extra places that seemed important.)
So come along with me on this journey of discovery - discover the breadth of Canada and celebrate our diversity, and our common experiences.
